Through the teaching of mathematics at Keldmarsh Primary School, we intend to equip pupils with a powerful set of tools including  logical reasoning, problem-solving skills and the ability to think in abstract ways. Mathematics makes a significant contribution to modern society; the basic skills of mathematics are vital for the future life opportunities of our children and, with this in mind, we endeavour to ensure that children develop a healthy and enthusiastic attitude towards mathematics that will stay with them. It enables children to understand and appreciate relationships and patterns in both number and space in their everyday lives. We use the NCETM Mastery Materials as the basis for our maths curriculum. Through their growing knowledge and understanding, children learn to appreciate the contribution made by many cultures to the development and application of mathematics.
